The West District occupies 5.714 square kilometers and is located in the central part of Taichung City.
It is home to the Taichung City Government and is bordered by three rivers (Liu Chuan, Mei Chuan and Ma Yuan Tou).
Many government organizations and schools are also in this area. In addition to 10 elementary schools, nine junior high schools, National Taichung Girls’ Senior High School, National Taichung Nursing College and the National Taichung University, West District hosts the Taichung Nursery Center, Ministry of Interior Central Region Children’s Home, Taichung City Council, Taichung District Court and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. Especially in the cultural and educational fields, West District is the core of Taichung City.
